This piece was inspired by Kafka's story "The Burrow." These thirty-six pieces were each a conscious pursuit of personal calm in a world full of troubling turmoil. For me, the repetitive action and attention to minute detail involved in building the surface with fragments of burnt paper reveals the power of aesthetic experience to quiet the mind and soothe the soul. 2005–8.
