Text: Kafka. Collection The Museum at Hebrew Union College, NY. The two paragraph text of the Kafka parable, after which this piece is titled, is itself part of its imagery. Kafka wrote of a scholar whose book claimed that the original Tower of Babel did not succeed because of its flawed foundation, and that the Great Wall of China would provide a secure foundation for a new tower. The photographs I used to build the wall and the tower are of the Warsaw Ghetto.
