Collection Cape Ann Museum.
This self portrait was done at the request of the Berlin Society of Woman Artists, of which I was a guest artist at the time, for a large catalogue of their members' work. After eleven years of work on the Holocaust, genocide and other crimes against humanity, I felt raw, as if mass death was constantly on my mind. The only way I could envision myself at the time was with mortality as my companion, including my own.
